FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Libertarian Party of Missouri Announces Grand Opening (Columbia) The Libertarian Party of Missouri (LPMo) announces the grand opening of their new home on the world wide web, www.LPMO.org, and the online home of their official state-wide newsletter, Show Me Freedom, www.ShowMeFreedom.org. Glenn Nielsen, Webmaster for the LPMo Internet initiative, said "We feel the new websites for the Libertarian Party will be a great resource for the media as well as Libertarian Party volunteers, officials, candidates and voters in Missouri. We would particularly ask media outlets with a website to add a link to our website on their elections/politics page." "Effective use of the Internet for reaching out to voters and organizing volunteers is especially important for third parties who receive a small fraction of the media coverage the two major parties receive," continued, Nielsen. Improved communications include timely reporting on campaigns and party activities, automated discussion lists for party business, online donations and an events calendar for scheduling and coordinating volunteer activities. A prominent feature of the new LPMo.org website is the new Small Business Initiative recently launched by the party. the Small Business Initiative Survey is now available on-line. See: http://www.lpmo.org/issues/SBI Enhancements to the new ShowMeFreedom Online include a search function (by article or columnist), a Press Release Archive, a listing for authors which can include their biographies and a special software enhancement for creating photo albums for stories. You can see a good example for the O'Fallen Meet The Candidates at the Ballpark event here: (http://www.showmefreedom.org/2004/July/ballpark/). All Show Me Freedom articles since January, 2002 are archived on the new website. Future editions of the printed newsletter will be available in PDF and printer friendly formats. "The new Show Me Freedom website is part of the LPMo Internet Initiative started in 2003. This is just the start, there are a number of new features planned for the future," stated Nielsen, who is also a member of the LPMo Executive Committee. Future enhancements planned include providing an RSS Syndicated News Feed for SMF articles, Email notification of new articles for online subscribers, submit new articles to the SMF Editor online and archiving SMF issues prior to 2002. Observed Nielsen, "The Howard Dean campaign for the Democratic Party Presidential nomination was lauded for its use of the Internet to organize volunteers. Computer programmers who worked on the Howard Dean campaign are releasing some of the software they developed as Open Source, free for anyone to use (http://www.advokit.net/). As Webmaster I am researching how the Missouri Libertarian Party can benefit from its use." # # # Contact: Glenn Nielsen Webmaster, Internet Initiative Phone 573-499-4477 Email glenn@earthdome.org Bob Sullentrup Sate Chairman Phone 314-280-2847 E-mail: rwsully@charter.net To respond with instructions/corrections regarding the future routing of news releases, reply to this message or send to: Libertarian Party Media Liaison PO Box 455, Belton, MO 64012 Further information: Libertarian Party of Missouri 877-Vote-4-Us www.lpmo.org Show Me Freedom Editor@ShowMeFreedom.org www.ShowMeFreedom.org Libertarian Party of the United States 1-800-Elect-us www.LP.org |
