Missouri State Post Endorses Mike Ferguson for

Missouri Lieutenant Governor

(Belton) – For the first time in Missouri’s history, a major newspaper has endorsed a Libertarian candidate for statewide office.

The Missouri State Post, one of the state’s largest African-American owned newspapers, endorsed Mike Ferguson this week. The Missouri State Post is owned and operated by Minority Press Association, a Kansas City-based media company, and has a statewide circulation.

The paper’s article about Ferguson noted, “Mike Ferguson is a serious candidate. He is deeply interested in where Missouri is headed and he has some clear ideas about how he can help…”

Among the reasons cited for the endorsement are Ferguson’s dedication to improving Missouri’s economy by reducing taxes and regulatory burdens on small businesses and his experience in working with representatives from both of Missouri’s other established parties while working on the Missouri State Plan Committee.

Ferguson welcomed the news of the endorsement; “I am absolutely thrilled. The Missouri State Post has a track record of concern and active support for both our urban communities and the State of Missouri as a whole.

“The Post’s Editorial Board showed tremendous courage in considering all candidates and making endorsements based on principles and ideas instead of partisanship.

“The message is clear: it is time for Missourians to show that our votes and, in this case, our political support cannot be taken for granted by anyone. Mike Ferguson is the right candidate and the Lieutenant Governor’s race is the right election to send that message.”
